Responsibilities of Advanced Health Systems State Network Providers

Advanced Health Systems, Inc. Network Providers are required to comply with certain minimum standards related to the provision of services to State Health Plan Participants (Participants). The following is a summary of these minimum standards:

• Providers will treat Participants with respect and dignity.
• Providers will ensure Participants know they have the right to make decisions about their healthcare and to speak freely and privately with the provider about all healthcare options and treatments for their condition regardless of cost or whether the treatment is covered by the Mississippi State and School Employees' Life and Health Insurance Plan.
• Providers will render medical care to Participants in accordance with accepted medical practice and customary medical ethics standards.
• Providers will provide Participants with the same access to care and quality of care as is provided to all patients.
• Providers will render services to Participants regardless of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, religion, national origin, or any other status protected under Federal or State law.
• Providers will provide culturally and linguistically appropriate communication to Participants about their care.
• Providers will take appropriate steps to ensure effective communication with Participants with limited English proficiency, illiteracy and/or physical or mental disabilities.
• Providers will comply with all applicable Federal, State and local legislative, regulatory and legal requirements, including, but not limited to, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
• Providers will comply, as required, with Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, including, but not limited to, the requirements related to individuals with limited English proficiency and the availability of language assistance services, and the use of auxiliary aids and services when necessary for effective communication.
• Providers will comply with all obligations outlined in their AHS State Network Provider Agreement and all applicable policies and procedures.
